The SF72

The SF72 pedal is based on the vintage 1972 Peavey Super Festival F800B solid state amplifier.  For 2022 we have redesigned the pedal to fit into a smaller 125B enclosure with top mount jacks to make it more pedalboard friendly.  The circuit is exactly the same as the original version of the pedal.

This is the SF72 - our interpretation of the vintage 1972 Peavey F800B Super Festival amplifier made famous by Jesse from Death From Above 1979. First, we take a standard boss-style 9V power supply and boost it to 24v internally for added headroom and dynamic range, just like the original amplifier.  Next, we modified the original 3-position slope switch.  We found that the 3rd position cut too much bass to be useful in any practical situation that a bass player would find themselves in, so we eliminated it. Finally, the original circuit design has the volume control in front of the tone stack. This means that when you turn the volume up or down, it will change the overall tone and feel of the pedal.  We added a master volume at the end of the circuit so you can dial in the exact sound you want and then control the overall volume without changing the tone. This is the SF72 - our interpretation of the vintage 1972 Peavey F800B Super Festival amplifier made famous by Jesse from Death From Above 1979.

The pedal uses a standard boss-style 9V power supply. There is internal circuitry to generate  33V power to the transistors. This gives incredible dynamic range and punch to your tone.

​

Controls include: Distortion, Volume, Master, Treble, Middle, and Bass.  The Treble/MIddle/Bass controls are an active boost/cut EQ as on the original amp.  The Distortion control the amount of distortion.  The volume control adjusts the signal level going into the tone stack.  During the design of the pedal, we noticed that changing the post control to make the pedal output higher also resulted in a change in the tone and character of the distortion, so we added a Master volume control to help keep the tone you like with the post control but be able adjust the output volume.

We took the 3-position slope switch form the original amp (Flat/100Hz/150Hz) and got rid of the 150Hz roll off since it cut too much bass to be useful.

Each pedal uses a professionally assembled PCB and is proudly assembled by hand in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Each pedal comes with a 1 year warranty on parts and labour. Note that the warranty does not cover damage due to using an improper power supply or other misuse.
